On behalf of District Deputy Grand Master R:.W:. Lester B. Stockwell, welcome to the Broome-Chenango Masonic District. Currently, there are 11 Lodges and over 900 members within our jurisdiction with more joining all the time!
Freemasonry is the oldest fraternal organization in the world. Counting among its past and current members are presidents, entertainers, writers, philosophers, astronauts and scholars. Originating from the craft guilds of medieval Europe, our present form of Masonry formally began in 1717 when four Lodges in London combined to form the Grand Lodge of England. Having received our charter in 1781 from the Duke of Atholl, Freemasonry has been active in New York State for over 230 years.
The fraternity’s core beliefs are truth, charity, love of country and of course, Brotherly love and relief. With the help of our Brothers we take good men and make them better by building on these core beliefs. Freemasons live these principles on a daily basis and strive to show others through our actions what a group of people united by common beliefs can achieve.
Freemasonry does not discriminate against any race, religion or creed - we all live as Brothers bound by the love we share for each other as equals. If you wish to explore joining Freemasonry please CLICK HERE and we will put you in touch with a Lodge closest to you.
